Well, welcome to our blog. We will write as time allows about our travels and adventures. We plan to retire next year, so we should have much more to talk about then
I will begin by telling about a family wedding and reunion that we went to in Tyler Texas on Saturday May 24th. My cousin Linda Warren's daughter, Merideth got married this weekend in Tyler Texas. It was good to see so many of my family there this weekend, including my Aunt Janie-grandmother of the bride and her husband Gail, Linda and her husband Doug-parents of the bride, DJ-brother of the bride and his friend, Steve Sharp, uncle of the bride, Jack Treadaway and his wife, Jack's son Jason-who performed the wedding ceremony and Jason's wife Kathryn and their children, Janie's step-daughters Patsy and Linda Gayle and their families and lots and lots of others that I can't think of right now.
There was one little humorous moment Saturday evening just before the wedding. Kathryn and her son were at the motel desk, getting ready to leave for the wedding. Now normally Jason would have been there to tie their son's tie for him, but he had to be at the wedding early, since he was officiating, and Kathryn needed some help getting the tie on. The desk clerk saw me coming down the hall and asked me if I could help this young man with his tie. I guess I looked like someone that wears a tie every day or at least knows how to tie one. Of course I did, but didn't realize until after who it was that I had tied the tie for. Kathryn and I both had looked at one another and thought we knew each other, but we don't see each other very often, so I guess this was a lesson for both of us to get together as a family more often.
The wedding was wonderful, with the bride arriving in a white carriage being pulled by a beautiful black horse. It was like a storybook wedding in the garden of the Women's Center in Tyler. Everything went off perfectly-of course that's my view and the ones directly in the wedding will have a different view of it-but I thought everything was perfect. That's my view and I'm sticking to it!
We brought grandson Tyler with us from down here. Jennifer and Jay brought newest grandson Ian along and Melissa brought her friend Josh to meet us. We all had a good time together, eating supper at Appleby's across the street from the motel and then later in the pool after the wedding and the reception afterwards.
We got up this morning and went down to the continental breakfast that the motel furnished. It was good, there was a lot of good food to choose from. I had figured that they would have either sweet rolls and donuts or donuts and sweet rolls, but they had a really nice assortment. I ended up with a frozen waffle and some fruit to go with my coffee.
After breakfast we all went to church at the Green Acres Baptist Church. Wow, what a church! We went there last year, and it seems even bigger than before. They're adding onto the building and it's quite a sight to see.
We all went to Doug and Linda's house after checking out of our rooms and ate the leftovers from the wedding reception and ordered pizzas, so no one left hungry.
All-in-all it was a great weekend, and getting to spend time with grandsons Tyler and Ian made it even better. Of course, I was glad to see the adult family too, but those boys.....
