I have been trying for days to get photos loaded onto the blog but they just won't go! I will tell you what we did and as soon a I get somewhere that will supply a decent wifi, I'll add the photos.
We made a drive up to the actual headwaters of the Rio Grande river, a drive of about 30 miles, that took about 4 hours to cover. The reservoir at the top of the mountain is about 3.5 miles long, about 1/4 mile wide and seems to be pretty deep. We turned around soon after getting across the reservoir but the road went on for several more miles.
This is a beautiful drive and the road is in pretty good shape and much has been graded. In fact, we drove past one of the graders just after turning off the highway.
On our way back out from the reservoir, we stopped to check on one of our neighbors, Jim Williams, who was fishing on the Road Canyon reservoir. This is a favorite fishing hole for the regulars around here, and another very pretty lake with heavy woods across from the fishing areas. Several deer, elk ad other wildlife have been seen in the area.
It was a very nice way to spend a day up here in the mountains. I can't wait to show you the pictures...
So long.
